SIXKNM is a Kenyan grassroots organization registered by Ministry of Labor, Social Protection, and Social Development on 29th October 2012. SIXKNM is an acronym for Six Key Nature Matters (Human, Animals, Plants, Air, Land, and Water). The group was founded with a vision to address issues affecting these matters. SIXKNM is a member of Nakuru County CSO’s network and is a member of CIVICUS an international non-profit organization, and a global alliance dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society around the world. SIXKNM has previously partnered and received grants from Internews Network, Madiro fund under KBF Canada, Imarisha Kenya, Her Voice, The Pollination Project, National Geographic Society, Het Actiefonds, Peace Direct and Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF). Proposed projects are continued steps towards implementing the organization’s 5 years (2018 – 23) strategic plan whose strategic objective focuses on up-scaling SIXKNM’s activities. SIXKNM has acquired elaborate local knowledge, contacts, and linkages at the grassroots level. The attitude of key stakeholders in the target areas is positive and this situation presents a very conducive environment for successful implementation of the proposed projects. The projects ride on the goodwill earned by SIXKNM among the stakeholders. The success of SIXKNM’s pilot projects has generated increased interest and proposed project represents SIXKNM’s strategy of upscaling its work with potential for transforming vulnerable peoples’ livelihoods in the project areas. Overall, the proposed project is an integral component of SIXKNM’s work, will complement its current efforts, expand the organization’s geographic area of coverage, and build the organization’s capacity.
